About Anya

In 2019, after over twelve years working as a paralegal, I decided to go back to school.
In 2020, I graduated from The Writer’s Studio Online (TWSO) at Simon Fraser University. To this day, I meet with my fellow students from TWSO to critique each other’s work and share our experiences as writers. Through this writing group—we call ourselves The Crew—I found a love for editing and providing my thoughtful opinions of other people’s writing through feedback. I returned to school for the second time as an adult in 2021, finishing the Editing Certificate from Simon Fraser University in early 2023.
I have been a writer as long as I can remember, and self-published my memoir, Letters to the Mountain, in 2019. You can find more about me as an author and writer on the Anya Wyers Author page and website. During the publishing process for Letters to the Mountain, I worked closely with a professional editor, who helped bring the best version of my story to the pages. I truly hope to be that editor for writers just like me that have a love and passion for writing, and need the expertise of an editor to help bring their writing to the next level.
My passion for writing and reading as well as my background in creative writing give my editing practice a solid foundation for growth and continuous learning. I’m eager and excited to hear all about your project, whether it’s a first draft, a hundredth revision, or an idea that still exists in your mind.

In my personal life, I have been married to my love, Brad, for ten years. We have two kids and one annoying, rambunctious fur ball dog we love beyond measure, Eddie. When not busy with soccer and swimming lessons for the kids, I enjoy going for walks, riding bikes with my family, petting all the dogs, reading, crafting, and taking some quiet me-time for yoga and meditation.

I am eager to hear about your needs as a writer, and how I can help as your future editor.

My Author Story
As long as I can remember, I have been a writer. In 1994—I was ten years old—I wrote an autobiography and in it, mentioned that it was my life ambition to become a writer (and a police, so long as I could help people, which definitely did not happen).
To be honest, I kind of forgot about my desire to write until I experienced one of the greatest losses I’ve had to date. I felt a pull to write to my childhood best friend, Rachael, who is no longer with us, and in 2019, I self-published my book, Letters to the Mountain, a memoir written as a collection of letters addressed to Rachael.
The process of speaking from the heart, owning my truths, and telling Rachael all about the things she’s missed since she’s been gone and the important role she played in my life growing up was cathartic, and also introduced me to what it’s like to work with a professional editor.
I hope to be for other writers what my editor was to me. A place of safety and support, providing confidence in the writer’s dream and product. My editor gave me belief in myself and my book and encouraged me to write what I felt from my heart, helping me in the end create and polish a book that I am immensely proud of.
