Editing can include suggesting rewrites, reorganizing paragraphs or chapters, improving pacing, or simply polishing grammar and spelling. Copy Editing

The attention to detail required when copy editing gives me joy. Having been in a writer’s shoes, I know that we can easily overlook small errors in our work that are easily noticeable to someone reading our words for the first time.

This is where a copy edit comes in. As your copy editor, I will act as your second set of eyes, searching for errors and inconsistencies, including correcting grammar and spelling, fact-checking, and ensuring your writing makes sense.

I promise to bring your writing to the next level professionally, leaving your piece refined and ready for your reader’s eyes.

Proofreading

Proofreading is the last step in the editing process, and should occur after layout and right before publishing.

Typically, a book or article will have undergone a separate copy and stylistic edit before being laid out for print/publishing. Then, a proofreader will step in to give the content one last review for glaring errors and typos.

I’ll give your work a final careful polish so it’s clean, consistent, and publication ready.

General Editing

From blogs and websites to letters and resumes, my general editing services include formatting tricky Word documents, working with blogs in WordPress, structural brainstorming, and any other editing-type help you may need.

I also edit short stories, poetry, articles, and presentations.

Pricing

Hourly rates start at:
$65/hour for copy and general editing
$55/hour for proofreading

I’m happy to discuss rates and quote your unique project based on your personal budget.
I can quote on a per project basis, depending on the word count, depth of edit, and time frame.

Rates are set based on recommendations by Editors Canada.
